Info from customer service rep. on Marine Dollar....

Just for interest.............

Confirmation number on order placed at 13:15 was 14,000 higher than order placed at 12:15

2 different Customer Service reps say demand highest they have ever seen. Stated higher than first day Bison Nickel, higher than Buffalo dollar.

600,000 with 100,000 tied up in Heritage sets and 50,000 in stamp sets. 450,000 singles...............

Some guys actually already have them in hand!! Mint window in D.C.? or at release site in Quantico??

Initial Ebay sells of those 'in hand' with actual pictures to prove it...........$89

As for comparisons to West Point comm........................I'm almost sure there are a lot more Marines than West Point grads!!!

IMO only thing to stop this from being a hit would be another override on production numbers.

  • Great info!
I heard they were making a French version of Medal of Honor. I wonder how many hotkeys it'll have for "surrender."
  • One correction.............
Those two orders I placed with confirmation numbers 14,000 apart were at 12:15 and 15:15 not 12:15 and 13:15 as originally reported. Sorry for the error. I did speak with a friend who ordered between these times and his confirmation number was in correct range so I suspect total orders for today may approach 25,000+. Hard to know how many coins this represents but max. # is 99 per name/address.

  • thats about right my order at 12:11 and my brothers order at 12:27 was 1105 apart so 4,000 per hour and slower demand thru the day. 25,000 orders is about right. the coin and stamp wont last long.image
  • is that 600,000 with or without the milk spots?

  • The milk spots only occur on proofs don't they?

I won't be surprised if they find a way to again increase the mintage on this issue.

Anybody have any guess about how many active duty, former/retired Marines are out there? I'm not familiar with the Corps, except the slogan, "The few, the proud, the Marines".
  • Confirmation number that I got today at 6:36 PM Central is 77,906 higher than the one I got at 11:40 PM Central on 7/20. Naturally that includes orders for numerous coins, not just USMC coins, but that's a lot of orders!

  • I was on the phone checking on my damn west nickle and med. set and they said that all of the marine coins are still on sale so no sell outs yet.image
  • Probably take a week to sell out of the coin & stamp. Hope they don't sellout till August 11 and I can buy as many as I want lol! That's what I hoped with the C&M sets too but didn't happen -(
