This may be bothersome only to me, but I would very much appreciate posters having some or all of your profile filled out.
I know that it helps me in responding and evaluating information posted.
You don't have to publish your street address!
Please fill out your profiles.
I am posting this here, because this is the forum that I utilize most.

Aside from the fact that one can enter anything they please, the profile info it's all that enlightening anyway.

I had assumed, Russ, that accurate info would be entered.

It never entered my mind that any of our fellow posters would do anything but,.......

  • I do use the profile occasionally so that I can address someone by name
when responding to or initiating a PM, but it's not always there.

First names, at least, would be nice to have sometimes, but I understand
    people's desire/need for privacy, too.

I say post the info if you want to, otherwise don't! image

    My profile seys:

    <<<First Name: The

    Last Name: Dog

    Nickname: Dog97

    City: Lower Alabama

    Province/State: Alabama

    Country: United States >>>

If you will respond & evaulate me differently if my profile said:

    First Name: Clancy

    Last Name: McBride

    Nickname: Fancy Clancy

    City: Prichard

    Province/State: Alabama

    Country: United States

I'll change it asap. But if you knew I was that million dollar collector Coin World was always writing about you might not take my posts seriously.

Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.
  • Julian, please PM me your Social Security Number so that I may correctly evaluate your bank accounts.

It would also be nice to see more people add to the member listing at the bottom of the page.

This can be very interesting but not all are listed.

I didn't even know that existed, until you post made me look at the bottom of the page! I like that information.....Wonder why it isn't part of the normal profile?

I just added myself to the member listing page. I noticed a lot of outdated listings, it would be nice if those who are listed will review and update their information or delete the listing if they no longer wish to be listed.

There is a real security issue and one should consider what is safe to divulge
and what isn't. In almost all cases a first name and last initial will be safe. A
city and state are valuable too. You might not want to leave enough info for
someone to be able to come to your door with a sack that's big enough for
your collection unless you live at Fort Knox.

This all isn't critical but it can sometimes be easier responding to a person rat-
    her than a "user name".

  • Under "Profile" I don't have info like Birthday. Also how do you upload a new icon (avatar)? I only see how to pick from icons that others have uploaded.

  • pharmerpharmer Posts: 8,355
Don't worry about birthday, that's another bit of info that would be risky to make known, although we are currently unable to buy your joining-the-forum gifts without the name of the dealer you are registered withimage

Shouldn't there be entries for mother's maiden name and pet's name?

I agree with others who believe posting personal info on a public forum isn't a good idea.
