Nice 1953-P Jefferson MS-65FS

Saw this on Ebay. It appears to be a very nice coin for a 53. The steps are solid, although there is some weakness in the building.

So what is a coin that is weak in the steps, but solid in the building worth?

Not too familar with the series, but I've had jeff's with more steps than that come back without the FS designation.

    $7000???????

I think this coin was sold earlier this year in auction. I remember the two big hits one by Jefferson's nose and the other right above the steps.

I hope it sells for $7000! image

The top 5 steps need to be full without significant hits.

So you cant have 5 out of 6,they must be in order counting from top to bottom.

Are you ever going to post a picture of your 1953?

Here are my photos of the coin.

Steve Wells told me the coin used to belong to the Sistis.

Here's a 3rd example of the 1953 ANACS MS65 5 steps. You can view a 4th by looking up nickelcollector's coin in his registry set. I've seen 3 of these coins, I elaborate on them later this evening.

There's a 4th PCGS MS65FS in the Heritage archives. A 5th resides in JHF's collection so where's the 6th PCGS certified example and who has the coin from Heritage? And yet, there's one up for grabs on ebay.
