Specialists: Name a grade rarity pop that has not budged in recent years...
I bought 1950 (17/0) and 1951 (13/0) Jeffs in PR-68 two years ago and not one PR-68 has been made in either date since ... How about in your specialties? Such an exercise, particularly amid the exploding market and heavy submissions of recent years, helps illustrate, I think, the really scarce condition rarities.

the 1854-S half eagle.
pcgs has graded zero.
3 known to exist.
you would think there are others around?
thank you heritage for the quote below.
Now for my favorite coin of all:
1854-S $5 MS 60 or better. Ex: Eliasberg Collection. I had the privilege of closely examining this coin first in 1982 and again a short time ago. It was still encased in its blue Lucite holder as presented when the famed Eliasberg Collection of U. S. Gold Coins sold at auction. Today, it would probably grade MS 61 or 62 at one of the professional grading services. In my opinion, the 1854-S $5 is the King of all Liberty Head gold coins. It is also one of the rarest of all coins with perhaps 3 known survivors. Famed coin dealer Abe Kosoff sold this coin to Mr. Eliasberg in 1946 for the sum of $5,500, a very large amount of money at the time. Today, it is worth perhaps 200 times this amount. Seventeen years had elapsed between the first and last time I have seen this coin. It may be that long or longer before I see it again. Take advantage of opportunities to view the great coins of U. S. numismatics. They are the treasures of our hobby and help make numismatics exciting.

Has been this way for a number of years now.
I miss my NB Mercs, but they went to a good home with Larry.
Pretty amazing that, in almost 10 years a coin that would bring 3-5 thousand dollars if made, not one coin has been graded MS68 by PCGS.
So much for all these modern coins being common in high grade.
Happy Hunting!
