My Collection of Old Holders
Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
A few constructive comments:
-- Looks like the shots are oversharpened to my eye. Turning down the in-camera sharpening or any post processing sharpening will help.
-- The focus is off on some of the shots. See how the top of the first coin is in focus and the bottom isn't? This means the coin and camera are not in the same plane. A level will help solve this problem.
-- The white balance looks off -- too cold (blue).
Explain your setup and equipment and we can help more.
Have fun...Mike
My camera (Canon A95) is mounted with a clamp on a ring stand about 5 inches from the coin outside in natural light when I take the pictures. The coin is at a 25-30 degree angle as is the camera. As MikeInFL stated, the angle must be off as there is some blur at the bottoms of some of the pictures.
How do I correct the white balance?

There is quite a bit of red & blue in that particular coin. That's very accurate though there seems to be some red reflection coming from somewhere.
I'm not quite sure what you mean by EXIF data. ISO was set at 50 as I was outside.

Nice coins.
Photos appear a little large on my screen. Are they less than 50KB each? Your clarity is great as from what I see. Anything better than that is getting carried away. I usually hand hold my comeral and am lucky when one comes out clear so I take a few hundred photos and just delete what I don't like. Great thing about a digital world. My camera will take about 328 photos on a little over 3 meg pix per photo on a 250MB card. Only 168 photos at 6.3 megs. What is the capacity of your camera? I may have to look for a bigger card so I can take thousands of pictures of each coin or maybe just use a tripod. Good luck with your piture taking. If you get any better I'll just hire you to take my pictures.
carl: The pics are hosted on another site and are larger than 50KB. I have the camera set at the maximum resolution 2592x1944 and still get more than 300 pictures from it b/c I've got a 512 mb card and 5.0 megapixel camera. I've tried holding the coins or camera and I don't get good pictures so I've got the camera and coins rigged to the ring stand and there's no movement.
mgoodm3 and stev32k: thanks for the info. I'll work on some more pics.

I personally like the photos a little smaller so that you can get an idea of the whole coin at once. If the photo is too big it seems harder to look at it "as a whole". It still needs to be big enough to show detail, but a bit smaller than what you have is better, in my opinion.
