People just refuse to read payment instructions at eBay

I hold 6 or 7 measly coin auctions @ eBay. Simple instructions, capitalized yet, "CREDIT CARD NOT ACCEPTED FOR PAYPAL PAYMENTS." The dumb clucks still render payment by means of C.C.. Ahhh, just venting!

Don't include the freaking PayPal logo in your auctions then, their TOS requires that you accept Credit Card payments if you do! (Read it!) (That is if you actually do include it in the Payment Methods Box, if you don't, then disregard my comment)

It does get a bit difficult as a buyer. I often look for the Paypal logo, and assume that cc's are ok. Sometimes you are bidding with 30 seconds left, and have little time to read the particulars.

Thiggy Fresh...Yo...If numbskulls can't read the above, after my mere 1 and possibly 2 sentence sales pitch, then they shouldn't be buying/bidding period @ eBay. I've had the same instructions for the last few years.

I had the same issue ..and vented here. I finally gave in and signed up..the items sell quicker and the 2.9% you pay you will most likely make up in bids. It is worth it even on a small scale.

get a clue guys, for exsisting funds you can use paypal up to 1,000 dollars a month with no fees thru paypal.if you use this your account will not take cc as an option as payment for paypal. thus if the buyer tries to use cc for payment it will not be an option for the buyer.easy enough.

If you choose to display the catchy PayPal logo with the credit card symbols then you should have to accept credit card payments. If you don't want credit card payments, then don't
advertise that you do & then say you don't in the fine print. It's like false advertising.

Been there, done that and can see both sides of the ..............."coin"! As a seller I used to go what you are going through Razor and returned many a payment. If you're NOT paying attention ALL THE TIME it's very easy to overlook the fact that someone paid with a credit card. If you inadvertantly accept payment this way your account becomes a business account.

You can revert to a personal account just once. The next time someone slips one by you, you now have upgraded to a Business account and cannot go back to personal unless you close the account down and open a new one. (More trouble than it's worth)

Now, if you look at it from the buyers' viewpoint, they don't know you from Adam. I WILL NOT conduct business with someone that accepts only checks and money orders. It's too easy to get burned. The seller gets the money and we stand to get what the Cat covered. The customer is looking for some sort of protection against Fraud and unscrupulous people, with good reason. eBay is full of con artists....Most all of us will agree on this point.

When I finally gave in and gave PayPal their miniscule portion considering all that they do by keeping meticulous records etc (You cannot HIRE someone to do all that they do for 3 cents on the Dollar) sales increased many times over. For cryin' out loud, give the dog a bone, put yourself in the buyers' shoes and give up the 3%.

Include insurance in with S/H and send everything with Delivery Confirmation. Then you are in compliance with PayPal Sellers' Protection standards and they then become a cheap but powerful allie/ secretary/ book keeper. Every transaction is literally at your fingertips even after you have forgotten the particulars. You have your monthly statements available broken down in detail...Beginning balance-ending balance, fees etc. Stop being so tight and just do it or have two seperate accounts available and REALLY get your head all twisted up.

Well first off I never use the PayPal logo and I say right in my description NO CREDIT CARDS and the dumb chits still try to use them. PEOPLE NEED TO LEARN TO READ.

For those of you are so in love with PeePal is it too much to ask you to keep an adequate balance in your PreyPal account or your checking account so that you don't have to put it on the card? I wish they would let you transfer funds from your CC to your PeePee account just like they do with checking so that the fee onus would be on the user not the seller.
Also with a personal account if you tie payment to the auction as goods or services you are of course tied into the $500 monthly limit. If you are smart and use the quasi-cash option you can take pretty much an unlimited amount of money thru your personal account.

I see why you don't like CC's, with all the fees and drawbacks. But the fact is, I'm not about to send a check or MO to a total stranger so I only use Paypal advertisers. That way my Visa "Credit Card" --it's really a checkcard drawing on my checking account--is instantly posted to the seller and I have a record. Of course I often have to bid more for a coin this way, but I'm willing to pay for the security. The fact is it should be entirely up to SELLER if he wants more bidders by advertising Paypal, and wants to put of with the extra fees/slight liability--It is the seller's property afterall.

If one uses PeePal from an existing balance or checking account then one already has a record of the payment. There is no need for the duplicity of a credit card transaction. I would be more than happy to go to a premier account if they would lower their fees on existing balance transactions. 1% is more than enough for shuffling money IMO.

Shufflin' Money....being the Middleman, a bookie's juice is 10%, Auction Houses, 15-20%. I still say a Secretary that works for 3 cents on the dollar is all good !

I'm completely confused. If I fund my paypal from a checkcard, they charge me to do it? Ebay-Paypal is not exactly clear with all their phoney friendly mumbo-jumbo instructions.

You can transfer funds from a checking account into your PayPal account to generate an existing balance free of charge, provided that it is the checking account that is registered/linked to your PayPal account. This generally takes about 3 days and saves the recipient the 3 day wait that he would have if you opted to pay him by echeck. I look at it as advance planning.

However you cannot transfer funds from a CC to your PayPal account that I am aware of and it is this feature I wish they would change.

On large purchases, if you know the seller and want to cut him or her some slack, simply pay with an e-check thru PayPal. Let's say it's a $1000 item. Instead of the buyer being charged about $30 in PP fess, he or she would then incur a measley $5.00 fee. Now THAT's all good!

Frankly I am trying to stay away from holding Big Bucks Auctions because between the eBay insertion fees, final value fees and PP fees, Hell, all the profit goes to eBay and PPal....Oh, and let's not forget the PPal USPS label printing link. I'm not too sure but it appears that the last few auctions, PPal has done away with the Label printing fee.

Of course, I can always print my own labels straight from the USPS site but I have yet to find where I can print First Class Mail labels from the site, It goes straight to Priority mail which obviously costs more.
