What talents or abilities have you developed as a result of your posting on the CU message boards?

Have you become a more talented writer?

Have you developed better communication skills?

Have you developed a more seasoned sense of humor?

Maybe you've become less (or more) argumentative, more descriptive, or more precise in your writing?

What has posting on the coin board taught you, other than about coins?

Dan

I'm a nicer person than I was when I first joined here. Not that I was rotten before, but I have mellowed out. That might be part of the aging process, also.

I've learned to identify blatantly AT coins (still working on IDing the market acceptable ones though), I've learned to be able to take a (barely) acceptable photograph of a coin, I've learned how to ID an accent hair Kennedy and I've learned to never accuse an Eagle Scout of anything unethical image.

I have learned how to ask thought provoking and response eliciting questions. I don't do it, but I could.

As a new collector, I have found these forums very educational. I've learned quite a bit about Kennedys in particular. I'm still learning about how to properly grade coins, though.

Oh, and the ability to see through walls, also.

I have learned that hairy head Kennedy's are hard to find in Houston Texas and you can't beat Russ and Marty to anything on the bay. Also Lucy is a class act and I love her style and taste in Franklin Halves

I've learned not to jump to conclusions or to try to make snap judgements. This may or
may not work in "real life" but it most assuredly doesn't work here. I'm still trying to learn
how to say things precisely so as to not be misunderstood. When all there is is the written
word and you don't know the reader it is much different than other forms of communication.

Mainly, great humility--I've picked up many subjects and excelled at them quickly in my life, but the level of expertise on coins, and great intellect overall, gives me an overall feeling of "I'm not worthy" when I come here.
With that, I've also learned tolerance and restraint for some of the lonely people who lash out in a mean-spirited way. That's a challenge, because the level of wisdom, knowledge and expertise are so high, the nasty stuff comes off like a cold splash of water in face.

Thank you, TWODOGS. Same to you. Actually, it's a pretty mellow evening. Not much arguing going on.

I've learned that, here on the U.S. Coin Forum, there are some nice people; and there are some angry people; and there is Russ.

I've learned much about coins here on the forum. But I enjoy all the different personalities here as well
    and have concluded:

You can compete with Stewart but you can't beat him.
Haletj is a likeable one and a very informed collector.
Son of a gunk,Rabbittracks, and WaterSport provide me inspiration and competition for my sets.
There are some grouches among us here but the quality members make up for them.
HomeRunHall deserves our respect and seems to be highly regarded.
Just my observations from my three months here.

Another thing I've learned since reading and participating on the forum, is that when it comes to the coin hobby, before being a forum member,
I wasn't as thought as I smart I was imageimageimageimage

I've learned to tell some good coins from ordinary ones...

The bad coins are fairly obvious although some fakes go unnoticed.

I've learned that people really do collect ugly coins.

On a totally unrelated note, I'm surprised at the number of Franklin collectors there are in the market.

I now type faster (about 60WPM, however I do still type with only three or four fingers), I am now a much better speller than when I first came to the message board, I can now grade coins much, much better, can recognize many more varieties and errors than before, I can now recognize cleaned and artificially toned coins, etc.
