HAS PCGS ALWAYS LISTED FULL STEPS ON JEFFERSON NICKELS

Good morning coin addicts.- I was hoping some of the Jefferson guys could help with this question. Since PCGS started grading was there a time when Full Step Jefferson would not be noted as such. If so when did they start with the FS designation> thanks in advance Don/non recovering coin addict

  • The earliest pop report I have is March 1999 and it shows some Jeffs graded as full-steps.

I believe NGC started designating these in 1997, with PCGS starting up in late '98.

I have a green holder 1939, that is a reverse of '40 with nice full steps but nothing noted on the holder. (it was much later that they distinguished the two reverse types)

    hey Don

i'd have to check the old pop reports to give an earliest attribution date, but i think it's around May of 1997. i posted the approximate date in a thread that might be found in a search, send me a reminder PM over the weekend and i'll look through my pop reports and give a more definite answer.
