First Day....Dealer Set Up....Show has expanded....makes it much nicer....room is larger now, more room between isles, etc....bourse floor quiet but remember this is a very high end show.....break the piggybank, big ticket items....well worth taking a peek....3 auctions.. ANR Auction,Heritage Auction,Smythe Auction ... Best couple of suggestions...dont miss peeking at the Brasher Doubloon, and get a jump on auction lot viewing as ANR has its San Fran lots available....NGC is taking submissions....have fun and if you cant afford anything....theres nothing wrong with window shopping! image

    image Thanks for the report.
Collecting coins, medals and currency featuring "The Sower"
  • There was little within my budget, but as a collector of SLQ's, David Lawrence had on display 4 really beautiful coins: a 1916 in 64 or 5, two overdates, including an AU58FH overdate!, and a 1926D in 64FH.

Also, Superior's collection of toned Morgans with "Battle Creek Collection" (never heard of it) was something to behold.

I walked away with nothing, but enjoyed seeing some high end stuff.

I wonder if anyone saw how many 100% full obverse toned MS-66 Rainbows were in the Battle Creek Sale/ NGC collection.

Superior will have about (50) of the Battle Creek Morgans in the Santa Clara auction. They had a small sampling of them at the NY show ... very nice indeed. There are only four dates in the Battle Creek deal: 1885, 1886, 1887 and 1904-O. As one would expect, about half the coins are reverse toners, half obverse. (I guess the odds of flipping for "heads or tails" are still one out of two !!!)

I haven't had a chance to go to this show yet, but it's in my future plans. I'd love to window shop there.

I agree, I like Sat regular folks who have the day off...but I guess I am in the Minority....if your parking use garage at either 43th ro 45th street, a lot less than using valet at hotel.....dealers having a pretty good show all things considered....
