Do PCGS graders get vacations ?

I was wondering how long of a vacation do graders working for PCGS get during a year ?
Do you think their skills could get rusty ?

I was also wondering how often their skills are tested?

Any answers,suggestions or observations ?

The real graders take a vacation every time a Blay submission arrives. The substitute graders are instructed to take out all their personal shortcomings on your coins while the other guys lay on the beach. image

Don't know how much but know a dealer that submits coins based on their vacation schedule. image

310 weeks a year. Job is easy. Crossovers they say no to all, and regrades stay the same - that's 90% of their business.

They shouldn't until the so-called "guaranteed" turn around times are caught up.

For some reason, I read the title of this thread as, "Do PCGS graders get vaccinations?"

    Why should they?

PCGS sends them to shows all over the country many times during the year. So not only are they paid vacations, they get free travel, hotels and meals.

    What more could they want?

Everyone needs time off to avoid burnout and losing productivity.

If they are working hard and there's still a backlog, the problem is with the grading service, not the graders, for not hiring more graders.

I heard a rumor that the graders will be on vacation from tomorrow for 4 days. There will be NO MORE UPGRADES UNTIL THE ANA in San Francisco. Then there will be several windows of opportunities.Get your lottery tickets at San Francisco. The $100 kind should be the best buys !!!!

At least monthly they are required to review the aged and obsolete
PCGS "grading" set from the 1980's to ensure that they don't grade to those standards....except on NGC crossovers of course.
