I'm going to get this coin reholdered....

It doesn't match the rest of my slabs, and in the process I'll send it in to NCS for conservation. Just thought some people might like to see it first.

Yes, a quick dip to bring back the original blast-white appearance. I would send it to NNC afterwards to get the highest possible grade. image

1.)Why would you want to "conserve" off the coins originality? Is it extremely ugly? From the pick I can't see enough of the coin to tell.

2.)As far as the slab goes... I'm pretty sure that old slab adds a premium to the re-sale value of that coin the way people like me like to collect PCGS Old Clackers.

One of the many reasons I just can't, for one second, believe you are going to "conserve" that coin is that your alias is "Tonelover". image

Seems that some folks can't tell when their leg is being pulled.

Jon would never send it NCS. He'd just dip it himself. image

Interesting how the hole for the coin somehow got bigger during the slab-breaking process..

Methinks someone is pulling some legs around here image

I am skeptical , too. I would like to see a photograph of Jon holding the the coin, raw, in one hand, and today's USA today front page in the other. And no photography tricks! image

    I had to drill it.

Sorry RYK, I just sealed it up in the package and don't feel like opening it up.

I was shocked until I realized that this slab is a half dollar slab.

If you look closely, especially on the reverse pic, you can see the gasket around the coin is black too.
