Both the 1883 and this coin have common clash marks. They appear in almost every year of the Morgan series.

Can't vam w/o photos of the entire coin and selected closeup shots, sorry.

That's a clash mark from the wreath. By itself, it doesn't qualify as a VAM. If there is a letter transferred to either side, then it qualifies with a letter stuck on the end of the VAM number. Look for the 'n' of 'In' in front of Liberty's neck, 'st' of 'trust' behind Liberty's head near the lowest curls of hair, the 'E' of LIBERTY just below the left (as you are viewing the coin) tailfeathers, and the designer's initial above the word 'God' on the reverse.
  • eyoung429, I agree with everything Wolf & John have written.

I would like to add that when asking for an attribution on any VAM, it is imperative that you include a full, sharp, focused image of both the obverse and reverse, along with close-ups of the specific characteristics in question. Few coins can be properly attributed with only one close-up image.

I would also suggest that you take a few minutes and take a look at some of my clashed die auctions on eBay, current and recently closed. I include a written description and very detailed close-up photos in all of my clashed die listings. I make this suggestion only as an educational tool, and not as a solicitation.

    I hope this helps.

Thank you guys for looking into this. I was very late last evening at work rebuilding an exchange server and did the pics using my qx3 and did not have my camera with me to take full pics of the obv and rev. I will be able to do that tonight and will post them if I find anything.

    Thank you again!
