First Time ANACS submission results.

I sent some coins to ANACS under the 5 day grading tier. I have always been chicken in the past to submit to any grading company. I talked my wife into allowing me to submit a few (7) coins. Here are the results:

1. 2751876 1858 Half Dime Breen 3089 VF35. Bought as a PCGS VF35. I guessed around EF. repunched date
2. 2751877 1914 Buffalo Nickel EF40 Bought raw as a VF30 I still see parts of a 3 under the 4!!
3. 2751878 1914 Buffalo Nickel AU58 Bought as an NGC AU58 I still see parts of a 3 under the 4!!
4. 2751879 1939-D Jefferson Nickel R38 DDO-001 MS66 Bought as an NGC MS66 I guessed minimum of MS66 Nice coin!!
5. 2751880 1939-D Jefferson Nickel R38 DDO-001 MS65 Bought raw as an MS65 I guessed MS65. Gorgeous tone on rev.
6. 2751881 1939-D Jefferson Nickel R40 MS66 Bought raw as an MS65 I guessed MS65 . Gorgeous tone
7. 2751882 1939-D Jefferson Nickel R40 MS63 Part of an unc set that I bought awhile back. I guessed MS63

I was pretty much right on the grades (even a bit conservative) but I still think that there is part of a 3 under the 4 on the 1914 Buffs that I sent in. Oh well. The 1858 Half Dime I paid attribution fees of $6 for it. I saw some repunching around the date so I sent it in. The 1939-D DDO-001 Jeffs I cherrypicked them. This wasn't a submission for profit but rather a test of my grading abilities and for the fun of it.

  • I am still waiting for my ANACS to come back. I had to call them to upgrade the tier or they would not have even been looked at for another 2 months. I should have them later this week as they were mailed on 6/23. Wow it takes them a long time to grade. I am expecting 15 coins back from them, mostly modern, and every denom.

You look like you are a pretty good grader. Your picks were very close.

  • Nice grades. I sent them 10 circulated better date Morgans today on their 10 day/10 coin/ $10 per coin special. I feel that ANACS is the most consistant grading company around, day in and day out. I just don't like their small slabs!!

Yes they said that their economy grade time was 2 1/2 months...down from 3.....$8.00/coin more for the upgrade

On your 1914/13 Buffs-there are several dies, some stronger than others. I've seen ANACS (and most others) attribute ONLY dies #1 and #2-they won't attribute the weaker overdates.

I'll add-there is one die that has a rust pit at the top of the 4-to the right where the "bump" of the corner of the 3 would be found
that isn't an overdate at all. It's somewhat deceptive, but NOT an underlying 3.
