I recently made my first post in the NGC chatroom

I would describe the experience as 'I couldn't figure out how to view the listings, and the set-up put me off'.

it does seem a bit strange, takes some getting use to . image

It does take a little getting used to but it's still a good board. In some ways reminds me of this board from 2 years ago.

You don't really have to do anything...you just post and hit the "submit" button or whatever it's called image

I had the same experience when I joined their boards over a year ago. I did not return until last week when I posted my first message there.

Does everyone use the same forum name as here?

That's too bad. There's a wealth of good information there, and some terrific members, whom you will miss out on if you simply walk away.

No, the "XpipedreamR" over there is a renowned numismatist.

CCU - Careful, dude. As of two minutes ago, there is a new NGC forum member using the name "ColnialCoinUnion". He may be itching to start a thread about K6AZ, Alan Hager and a shared weekend in Las Vegas. Hypothetically, that is.

I've been a member of NGC's board for something like 2 years and I've not once posted. Their setup is very awkward, but there are many very good threads.

My handle's the same over there as it is here. I visit often and mostly read. I've not posted much for one reason, I've yet to figure out how to get an image to come up in a post. The link, I have no problem with. I would recommend anyone with an interest in coins to be a part of both boards. Posting is different over there after getting use to this forum.

I agree. The software is not terribly user friendly and is hard on the eyes to look at. They would probably have better particaption if they used a message board software comparable to CU's.

On second thought, Archimede's contributions were overrated, and I have thus changed my NGC forum name to 'Debbie'.

Well the good thing is that your post will remain on page one for a long time. 90% of the members there are members here too. 90% of the coins in their registry are members here too. Their registry is a tad clumsier to use but has a couple of features that we could use here. Posting is a bit of a pain, but tolerable. Most of what is posted there is posted here.

  • Me too.

The NGC room has a very different format.

I use the same name in the NGC room.
  • The forum might be boring, but look at the "COIN GALLERY" new feature of the NGC Registry!!! Try picts of a few of the top sets--like TDN's "NCSDipInStrip" Collection- imageimage Seriously, some pages with groups of beautiful major coins with just one click!!
