I know it's a little early, but anyone planning on going to the NY Invitational at the end of June?
Right now I am planning on attending. I belive it is not a weekend show, but I will be on vacation so it does not matter. Another board member "conveniently" is attending a conference at the Grand Hyatt in NYC during the show, and will be able to "conveniently" drop in (now why didn't I think of that?).

Unfortunately, there is sales tax in NY on all coins that are delivered at the show, unless you have a valid resale #.
I firmly believe in numismatics as the world's greatest hobby, but recognize that this is a luxury and without collectors, we can all spend/melt our collections/inventories.

I went last year on Saturday and was disappointed how many dealers had already left. I guess the organizers noticed it, so what did they do? Eliminated Saturday!
I don't work in NYC and based on last year's show, it's not worth it to me to take a weekday off and hassle with NYC commuter traffic.

They didn't invite me.
Maybe the whole "Holey Coin Vest" thing was too freaky for 'em.
Just try wearing that thing on the NYC subway. I dare you!

This is the Thursday and Friday before the July 4th weekend. Traffic going out of the City is going to be !@*&!^&@$!%&*!$@*&$!
I am going to try to take the train if at all possible. Even buses will be awful.
FYI, last year this was a very high end show - it was great for proof 19th century gold or high relief Saints, but there was almost nothing for the "regular" collector. I would say that the only so-called dollars you might see are slabbed MS-65+ ones.
Also, admission is $10/day (unless you have a discount card).
