gold scanned images, guidance requested

  while the picture is pretty good for being so small,
  is there any way you can take a better resolution scan?
  
  i forget the correct term for it, but as it increases, the file size
  does so dramatically. Like you might have to upload a 4MB image
  to get a truly good picture.
  
  if you cover the scanner with a dark cloth would that help?
  I imagine anything thicker than paper will cause the lid to be ajar.
  
  Did your scanner come with any tools that have knobs to tweak?

  Ok relayer...now we're getting somewhere. I've piddled a little more with the scanner and have tweeked it to produce almost acceptable images. Now for the next question...Just how do you get those images to show on the post instead of having to post links? If it's not a personal hosting thing then I should be able to do it. I tried copy and paste but that didn't work. Thanks for your feedback/help.

  Thanks Perry, it's a very clean NGC 61. The strike is not weak but certainly not strong and Akers calls for a strong stike on this coin. It has some rub on the tip of the eagle's wing but unbroken luster so I guess it's a 62 because of the light strike but rubbed enough (diagnostic) to be a 61. Fairly graded coin with no problems. I will post more coins this evening.

  Appearently that thread should only be titled - "How to Attached Pictures"
  
  If you want the picture to appear in the thread, you need to
  
  1) Click on the attached picture link
  
  2) Copy the address in new browser window where the picture is displayed
  
  3) Edit your message
  
  4) Click on the icon on the tool bar
  
  5) Paste the address you copied from the other window
