Chicago Expo Peace $ take..... (EAR RING VAMS)

Went to the show today when it opened and started going through all of the dealers Peace $. I was there about 4 hours in all. The first coin I found I cherrypicked out of a junk pile for $10!!!!, a MS-62 1922 "Ear Ring". I even told the guy "o, I like die cracks... just looking for some neat ones" image The second picture is an exceptional "Ear Ring" also that will most likely 3 that I didn't cherry. The last Heritage sale a 22 2A@3 went off at $ 1035. WOO HOO......

  • Nice scores!! image

  • Thanks. Both are late die state too. I was nervous buying the one for $10... He knew I was looking for "die cracks". At one table I found a 34-D VAM 4 in about AU-55 but it was cleaned. I could have bought it for $ 50 but turned it down. Before I left that table, I told him what he had and what it was worth.... He was surprised I didn't buy it from him even with it cleaned. That was before the 2 Ear Rings....

    Don't you love it?

Next week is show shopping time for me. I can't wait! I'm going after some Peace VAMs myself.

Doubling and tripling are nice to find but nothing beats a nice die crack VAM... Nice Job image

  • Yea, The dealer wanted to see what I picked out too.... I thought he may do that (Since I told him what I was doing) so I picked out another "non-vam" dollar when I was ready to buy. I then turned the 2 over to the reverse side in my palm and asked how much... he said "show me what you bought them for". I turned over the 22-D non-vam I picked out and showed him a tiny die crack... he said "$20" and I walked away.. image I'm so bad....
  • Nice score! I'm headed to Clearwater, FL next weekend to do some hunting myself.

Would anybody here know if PCGS will be set up and accepting submissions at the Clearwater coin show?
  • That black stuff on the top coin dipped out easy, she's nice and white now. Not sure about PCGS. They weren't at the Chicago Show.....
