1915 Austria Ducat

I wanted to buy gold coins for about the cost of gold bullion. I did pretty well and enjoy the coins I bought. I like the looks of this Ducat. It is listed in my Krause as being a restrike. Perhaps there is more info in that book, but I can't seem to find it now. Can anyone tell me when this coin was restruck? I'd like to learn more about it.

I also have several other gold coins that are interesting to me. Hopefully I'll get some time this weekend to post photos of another...

According to Krause, 996,721 pieces were restruck from 1920 to 1936.

I have always loved them. The four-ducat pieces are really splendid, and are often cameo prooflike.

Collector since 1976. On the CU forums here since 2001.

  • Thanks LM. This is a one Ducat and clearly proof like.
  • They are still being re-struck today, same for the 1915 4 Ducats.

These are a nice coin and good quality bullion.

I wondered about that. The cameo prooflike contrast on some of the 4-ducat pieces I've had looked WAY too nice and modern for 1920-1936 restrikes.
