Has been for a while now. The only way to get speed at NGC right now is to go through NCS first. Then they get done very quickly at all tier levels.

My last three economy submissions at NGC took 60+ days. Just received the last one back today that was rcvd. by them on 4/14.

The Earlybird and Express services seem to be running right on schedule. I did have on Early bird that was slightly delayed, but I believe it was delayed due to a heavy run of shows.

Of course, ANACS 5 day express is ALWAYS right on schedule. Don't do the economy though.

NGC received my "early bird" submission 6/1. I had hoped to have it back to bring to the coin show today. A woman at NCG's table today couldn't track its progress for me but thought that I should have it back at the end of next week. She said that one calendar month is now typical for the service they advertise as 12 days.

Still, I do not regret sending it to NGC rather than PCGS, since PCGS doesn't grade darkly toned 19th century proof coins as favorably.

Yeah, no kidding. It's a great way to make your moderns into classics, though.

I sent some coins in earlier this year to NGC and took almost 2 months to get them back. I have a submission in to NCS now for conservation and reholder and when I checked to see if it had been received they said it would be finished end of next week and the received it Monday. Now that is fast. NCS said that it only takes 3-4 days for grading from NGC when they submit direct. I only sent one coin to check out the service and work. I have heard about a "look" coins get after NCS work. I will post comparison pics if anyone is interested.

Yep, it's in the contract between the two entities. NGC has a max of four days to grade the coins once received from NCS. As long as NCS isn't backed up, going through both takes less time than going through just NGC.

I'm still waiting to receive my "early bird" submission to NCG, sent 5/27, received 6/1. My submission form called this service 12 days, and my proof Seated Liberty Dime was not in need of a coin doctor.

Today I received back my NCG "12 day" Early Bird submission. Mailed 5/27, received 6/01, charged 6/02, mailed back 7/05.

As soon as the postal clerk found it, I sensed that the envelope was not thick enough for NCG plastic.

Here's the original eBay auction photo (listed as PR-66). I thought it would grade PR-64 or perhaps 65, with no hairlines visible.

    Here's NGC's first opinion:

And Here's how it looked to me, both when I firsr saw it and again this morning when I ripped open the registered mail packaging:

This came from a dealer I trust and have met in person several times. Perhaps its time I stop spending real money on raw coins on eBay. I've asked for his buyback price before I send it anywhere else. It is a proof only variety (Breen 3319) but not a variety recognized as such by NCG.
