Some Portuguese coins arrived this week

Last week on went on another buying spree. I was able to pick both of these Potuguese 50 centavos up on the exact same day. The 1916 came direct from Portugal and I gave $22.50 for it. I also bought a 1945 but it was not

I've always like the Portugal Republic and colonial coinage, nice designs and they can be found with high quality. Their actually one of the thing I may move onto if Iever tire of the Germanic stuff.

I have been putting together a type set of those coins. They're not easy to find, especially the colonial ones.

I see nice colonial copper all the time: Angola, Macao, Cape Verde, Timor. The silver stuff is much tougher.

That's true. But a lot of the sellers I deal with have jacked up their prices on the copper because they see it's becoming popular.
Edited to add: The last time I was at a show, I walked up to one of my favorite dealers just in time to see someone cleaning him out of every single Portuguese colonial coin he had that was worth buying. They seem to go quickly these days.
