Ordering Coins from the US MINT

Do you thing the mint keeps a tally on your purchases? Silver and gold especially...what if the government calls for all gold and silver to be turned in by all residents of the United States...have you heard this happening before...you sure have...could it happen again?

Least of my worries. Think about it, you can buy gold and silver from every coin store or anyone on ebay. If they start tracking the people that they sold gold to, most will simply say "Sorry, I sold it on ebay".

Gold was demonetized in 1933 and demoted to a commodity status. Today it's no better then pork bellies etc.

  • As much competence as the mint has shown lately, I highly doubt they keep up with all that, or that they care. Remember, the government isn't plotting some secret nefarious scheme--if they ever do seize gold and silver again, it's going to be an ad hoc thing, not something well-planned for decades. If they decide to seize gold/silver THEN they might ask the mint for info, but I highly doubt they are building a database of mint sells just to have on file in case they ever need to seize gold/silver.

Large purchases of gold and silver bullion are logged by dealers and reported to the government, but isn't that mostly for purposes of preventing money laundering and tax evasion? After all, our dear relative named Sam needs to know how much our "investments" are worth so that when you sell them he can take his share!
I heard they were making a French version of Medal of Honor. I wonder how many hotkeys it'll have for "surrender."
