Would somebody please explain how we can know with certainty that this is a fake?

  • In my opinion, if it were legit, it would be sent in to a TPG to be certified & slabbed. It would then be sold through a major auction house where big money collectors have no problem throwing down half a mil or more. Ya just don't sell a raw coin on eBay for half a mil.

was listed a few weeks back by the same seller for only $100,000. I should have bought it then. Anyone know what it costs to list that coin at that price?

Looks fishy to me. The "3" looks weird.
Maybe it could be a 43 overstruck on a 42?
But I still wouldn't consider it as a 43 copper.
I would buy it as a double struck wheat.

    The alleged "43" is a 42.

It's pretty obvious that the 2 has been altered to look like a 3. That said, I'm wondering if it could be a mint error 1942. If so, it's a pretty cool coin.
