What are your methods of searching through rolls of coins? I just found my method.(updated photos)

Ok, I went about searching my Lincolns a whole new way. I used to go through my rolls coin by coin looking individualy at each coin. But last night I tried something new. I took all my BU rolls (about 50 of them), well at least the ones with the best potential for awesome coins, and layed them flat on my desk side by side. I found that the coins that look dull, (have no eye catching aspects; ie..scratches, dings, spots) are the best ones. Every coin that I picked to have this blandness (if you will) to them had awesome obverse features and awesome reverse features. Well.......a couple had dings and scratches but for the most part they tended to have the same reverse features as the front.
Which brings me to my question. Is it possible for a coin to be "overstruck" resulting in unjulating fields, and (In the Lincolns case) different depth corridoors (inbetween the pillars). This coin here is the best one I found, very evenly struck throughout, with full detail, color, luster, and only two(2) teeny tiny not noticable to the naked eye dings. Anyway, my mindset towards searching Lincolns has been expanded significantly from this little adventure. It is amazing how much easier it is to search through my rolls now, not tediously going coin by coin. If you have different methods of searching through rolls please feel free to describe it to us, I am sure we might all learn a little from each other.

So what do you think of this 1964 Lincoln beauty I found?

Thanks for the picture info, is this better?

  • because you reduced the quality of the images to fit under 50k, we can't really tell
    I recommend photobucket.com
  • Looks pretty schweet, but you need a bigger photo. I agree with Kool-Aid Man, get an account on Photobucket.com and upload it on there.

I look at them all, one at a time, obverse, reverse, and rim, so I don't miss any inperfections or errors.
