Finding a long ago lost/abandoned cache of valuable old coin, if you did, would you go public with i

Just chillin this afternoon and have posted a few threads. This is another.

I remember years ago some guys were out in the So. Cal. desert and they came across an old box filled with old gold and silver coins. The box was located on Federal Government land. The guys who found the box of coins had hit the jackpot and when they returned home (to a small desert town), they told everyone about their good fortune. The local paper ran a story that was picked up by other media and the story got some good play across the country.

However, the Feds, upon becoming aware of the media reports, took legal action through the U.S. Attorney and proceeded to obtain the coins from the guys who found them. Since the coins were on Federal property, they Feds own the coins. Bad luck/news for the guys who found the coins.

If you had found the stash of coins, would you tell anyone and/or publicize same? If so, in what amnner would you disclose your new found wealth. Would your answer differ if you found the coins on land in private hands instead of public?

I remember these three guys who stole a large amount of gold, then took it out into the desert and buried it in a cave.
They then got in into their chambers and went to sleep for 20 years. One died, but the other two started walking back into the desert heading to LA to sell their gold. Along the way, one of the robbers killed the other. But he couldn't carry all of the gold bars himself and had to drop them along the way.

The survivor was dying of thirst when a couple in a hover-car found him. He offered to trade his last gold bar for some water. The couple gave him water, but the man said to his wife "I guess he was delusional from the heat. He kept talking like it was valuable". The wife asked, "Wasn't gold worth something years ago?"

"Yes, but that was before we learned how to synthesize it years ago", the man answered as he threw the bar of gold on the ground.

    No. Never.
It will go to the land owner if you do.
