Will there be any more "mythical" coins in the future?

There have been some coins that were bigger than the hobby, like the 3-legged Buffalo, the 1955 doubled die Lincoln, the 1942/1 Mercury dime...

Do you suppose we've seen the last of the mythical coins? With 1) the numbers of coins being minted, 2) the speed at which information can travel, and 3) the fact that there are so many other neat things out there nowadays for people to get excited about, would it be pretty unlikely for a coin to generate enough interest to classify as "mythical?"

What do you think?

  • How about a Proof 71* Ultra Double Deep Cameo 2009 Reagan dime? That might qualify as mythical or maybe mystical.

I think the Wisconsin Quarter varieties will prove just as popular as the 55 double die and 37-D 3 legged.

Yes the 24K sac dollars, along with the 74 aluminum cent and the 64-D Peace $ could also be considered modern and 'mythological' but I think they would sit more in the 1913 Liberty / 1804 Dollar realm.
