Has there ever been a YN coin forum?

I was just wondering? Sometimes it feels like I either don't understand or aren't allowed to read half of the stuff here. image But I guess a YN forum wouldn't work because no body would know enough to talk about anything. image Never mind. image

What do you mean? You're not allowed to read half the stuff here? Why not? image

I think he's refering to the Open Forum.
  • Well, yes the Open Forum can be rough at times. It chews little boys up, and spits them out. Look what happened to midwestcoin13 in all his many incarnations. image

Not that I know of, and frankly, I'm glad. Age-specific forums are demeaning, just like children's menus. Besides, if they made a YN Forum, they'd have to make an Old Geezer's Forum too. image

  • I have seen requests for YN forums on a number of different sites I browse. Such a forum would take a lot of moderating (to make sure that all these old people stay out), so many forum boards are unwilling to do so. I see the point from alot of the YN's because, parents especially, do not want their children being "ruined" by some of the more nasty postings that can occur on these boards. Some of them will even look over the kids' shoulders to make sure what they're reading. I have a request on my board to put up a YN forum so that young people can talk and relate to coins on their own "level". Interestingly, though, nobody has signed up for that forum yet image

BTW, nice Spock! Where is it from? Is it a medal or silver round, or an actual coin? I have the Kirk/Picard Liberian silver myself! image

Thanks! I really like it a lot! My Dad got it for me. It's a silver round from paramount pictures for the 25th Anniversary of Star Trek.

That isn't what I meant. I just thought it would be kind of fun for kids to talk with other kids about collecting. image

I don't spend hardly any time on the open forum. Whenever I check to see what is going on, I don't feel the need to post or respond to anything.

Well now, notlogical you must realize that you are probably a lot more mature than many individuals on this forum already. If you were to leave here for a YN forum many of the old folks would not have such an educated YN to guide them. Having a YN forum would probably be fun, educational, interesting, clean cut, rewarding and a lot of other things but you would miss out on all the stupid things that are said here. These are the type of things that as you see them and realize thier uselessness you will realize what not to do or say yourself. This forum at times is sort of the same thing as when your parents or some other adults slip up and swear and then tell you that's what your not supposed to say yourself. As you noted there are things said here that you don't understand and you shouldn't feel left out since sometimes the people that said it don't know what they are saying themselves.
Actually there are other YN's around here and you could make a list of them and try starting your own forum or web site. Check with some of the more computer minded YN's here for an idea or two.
    Carl
