A 57 Frankie. Freshly graded, a HepKitty Jewel....
This one just came back home to me.... It has amazing luster! This coin is dripping with luster! The toning is very very nice, it is a copperish, brownish and goldish colors with some blue rim toning that really isn't captured in these images...
This Ultra GEM FBL coin really needs to be seen in person......

<< <i>Did hit the grade on the 1st try or did it make more then one trip? >>
This was this coins 2nd attempt at Ultra GEM status.. 1st time it came back MS66FBL...
Which when I 1st sent it in I expected a MS67FBL, as this coin has super eye appeal, and the magic ingrediant for Ultra GEM PCGs standards, outstanding luster...
Every ms67FBL coin I have owned and seen has a certian look, that makes you say WOW! On a Franklin anyways... And this 57 does just that...

However, that "FBL" designation wouldn't cross to NGC, would it?

The upper bell lines are more complete then what this image shows. They because of the toning are hard to image.
Now understand that the bell lines on a 57 will not be as sharp as say a 48 or the always hammered 51d.
As the 50's advanced the master die detiereated to the point of it being re-worked in 1960. So one can see a progression of detail loss on this series as the 1950's progressed. And the P mints were worse for some reason. You will also notice that the hair detail isn't as bold as the 48d. Again, this doesn't hurt the grade, it is simply a function of the Master die getting tired from many years of use...

Love the colors on that Frankie. Way to go Lucy.

<< <i>What a magnificant Frankie. Great coin Lucy. Where and when did you acquire it? Also, with its lofty grade, what would you expect the hammer price to be if you sold the coin at auction? >>
I have owned this Mint Set toner for over 1 year...
Hard to say its hammer price.... but it would be a fine addition to any top Registry set.....
