Who likes this matched endroll set of Lincolns? Electric green and purple!

airplanenutairplanenut Posts: 22,335 ✭✭✭✭✭
I got these from Braddick last week, and the only thing I didn't like was the fact that they're toned copper in NGC holders (making pictures OH so much fun :frownimage. But, I just got pictures I like, so posted they are! Both are NGC MS66BNs (one side cherry red, one side electric green and purple) with fantastic lustre and really, really clean surfaces. I'm very happy to add these two to the collection image

Very cool. It's a lot harder finding post 1958 colorful toned lincoln cents.
  • Very nice.

I'm currently working on a RD business strike (fun) collection, I wonder how hard it would be to create a (nicely) toned collection? (I bet a lot harder image ).

Okay, so I'm not very well versed in toned coins. What could a person expect to pay for such coins?

They are pretty but I have to chuckle a bit. I have a set of lincolns in blue Whitman folder, that is three years old and all of the memorial cents are toning like this. When I showed photos of them to the folks at NGC, they ewwed and mentioned environmental damage. image I wonder why the memorial cents are toning and the copper are not.

Actually, I had forgotten about them, but decided to check my email right before going to a coin show... saw there were 7 minutes left, so I stuck around to snipe image

  • Nice Lincolns but....................$41 for the pair ?????

Seems a little rediculous for very common Cents with a little color ??

Confusing statement...memorials/copper being different. Cents from 1959-1961 have the exact same composition as those minted from 1948-1958, and those minted from 1962-1982 are still base copper, they're just missing the tin their earlier counterparts had. True copper cents haven't been around since 1857. Anything from 1959-1982 should react to the same chemicals in the same way as 1909-1958 cents (save the obvious exception, 1943). Only those minted in zinc with the copper bath (1982-date) might have a different reaction because of their core metal.

I thought it was cheap--really vibrant color that's not so often seen, and a matched pair.
