Did I get a decent deal on the DPL Morgan?

I thought this looked pretty decent for the grade- Is this a fair price for this morgan?

You did fine on that coin. It's in an old fat NGC holder, and in those days a coin had to have tremendous mirrors to get the DPL designation from NGC.

A little bit. It's not so tough to get them now. I submitted a really nice 79-S in 1989 that you could read text on from more than ten inches out, and it came back as a 65PL. An interesting note about that is their turnaround times then were so long because of the boom by time I got it back the price dropped over 50%.

Forget the greysheet, especially with an old holder like that. He did very well at $91.

Looks borderline MS64 to me.

With the nice original album toning, a number of collectors would have paid mor for it in a Heritage auction. The tops is probably 64Dpl money, around $240. See if you can read the newspaper in the field reflection at 8 inches when you get it, for full DMPL designation.

Part of the problem with buying, especially with the new ways that are available, one has to make a decision based upon what is seen. In this instance, the coin is quite attractive for the grade and the good deal that you asked about can partially be answered by how much enjoyment you get from the coin. It also can be answered when you try to sell, but this one should stay in your collection for awhile. I think you will do just fine when that day comes. nice purchase.

Yep, coincat has it right--it's a keeper, etc. Look at the doggy piece of junk 83 MS64DMPL some idiot just bid $260 for in Heritage Sale# 373, lot # 1877. (lay off guy's--it was me)
