Do you really think the people bidding on this raw 1893-S Morgan really think it is VG? Looks AG-3 to me.

The seller guarantees the coin.

I have bought many coins from this seller, and if there's a problem they will do the right thing.

The fact that they guarantee the coin really doesn't help.However if they are a good seller than I believe them.It is just there is so much fraud on ebay

To misrepresent a coin as VG when it is clearly not VG removes this seller from my list.

Whatever happened to grading being "subjective" ?

If you don't agree with the sellers grade then either bid according to your grade, or find another coin to bid on.

It's not rocket science.

The difference between AG and G is subjective. The difference between G and VG is subjective. To misrepresent a coin that is AG as VG is wrong. A VG Morgan has "rims that are complete". The coin shown in the picture for that auction does not have complete rims. Also, there is no detail remaining in the hair that you would find in a VG coin.

The coin pictured is from the auction. Do you really want to argue that anyone can claim this coin is VG?

Plus the difference in value between an 1893-S AG Morgan and an 1893-S VG Morgan is about $1000. This is no small stretch of the truth that we are talking about.

The picture posted here is my PCGS G-06 Morgan. You can see the slightest amount of hair detail and the rims are almost complete.

I agree that the money spent to buy the coin $1711.11 was not equal to the going price for an 1893-S VG Morgan, but the winner will probably think they won an 1893-S VG Morgan. Having said that, the price paid is not equal to the going rate for an 1893-S AG Morgan.

I sent this email to the seller "I did not bid on your 1893-S VG Morgan auction (3976642721), but I do not believe the coin pictured in this auction is VG. In my opinion, the coin should grade AG-3."
