1996 Bullion Silver

Why is the 1996 Bullion Silver Eagle worth considerably more than other Silver Eagles? I got one of these free with a subscription to Coin Prices awhile back.

Just like in any other series, it's all about the mintages. 1996 is the lowest mintage year, that makes it the key to the series. That makes it more expensiveimage

    XXXXXI wasn't collecting back then....

But what was the general hobby opinion of the Silver Eagles when they first came out? From the mintage, it appears they were a big ho-hum at the time??? XXXXX

Um....I can't read. I thought the 1986 were the ones under discussion. I'll go back to sleep now. image

If you think they are more expensive now...You should have seen them back in 2000 when the prices were skyrocketing.
I bought 2 of them that year, and the cheapest one was $305.00. image
Then a year later, the 96s were around $175.00 and the 94s were around $200.00 image
