Mason's Token Value?

Looking for help--

I am trying to help someone I met at a local museum who has an Masonic Token from Aurora, Illinois. Its marked "One Penny" and has the Mason "TKSHTWSS" around a keystone looking shape. It also shows "Aurora Chapter #22, founded Sept. 29, 1854. I found a similar looking item on an e-bay search from Tulsa, Oklahoma that sold for $12. Does anyone collect/know about these types of Masonic tokens? We'd be grateful for any information as to the history of these pieces or value.

    As far as I can tell, the meaning of "TKSHTWSS" is unknown to those who are not Freemasons.

    Seriously, if you have a Masonic Lodge in your area, ask them if they have any affiliation with the Knights Templar organization. The Knights Templar has a monthly magazine and there are always people who collect them and are advertising for chapter pennies.

    I have mine and my grandfather's!

    There's an old thread around where this is spelled out.

    There are large numbers of different issues for these. They are available for low
    prices occassionally but are getting harder to find cheap. Figure nice AU/ uncs at
    five to ten dollars with scarcities possibly bringing much more. There are not a
    lot of dedicated collectors of these so rarities do not often command substantial
    premiums. There are a lot of people who dabble in them.

    I just happen to have the Aurora token.

    Apparently, you have the order of the letters incorrect. It's not T.K.S.H.T.W.S.S., but instead it should be read H.T.W.S.S.T.K.S.

    According from THIS THREAD, the letters read "Hiram The Widow's Son Sent To King Solomon". Whether it's true or not, I wouldn't know.

    Not exactly what we're after, but... (my 2c)

    I sent two of them to ANACS. They were BB'd as a "Non-eligible Coin Type."

    Anyone know if NGC will attribute them?image
