I'm re-imaging my Early Commemoratives - How am I doing?

I haven't really been happy with the hodge-podge of images in my current Early Commemoratives gallery (See my sig line.) and have been working on a new one. So far I've manage to do ten of the coins but it's going to be a long project since I'm in Korea and most of my coins are in the US. The gallery was developed for viewing on a monitor with 1152x864 or larger resolution. If you click on the thumbnail of a coin in the index it will display a 600x600 image of it. Hope you like the gallery.

I really like the 600x600 size for viewing coins. You get to see a lot about the strike, dings, etc..
Are these images scans or photographs?
AlaBill - The images are photographs most using a Nikon Coolpix 3200 a couple with a Canon EOS Digital Rebel. Having the larger images available is another reason I'm doing the new images. Since I can't drive down to the bank whenever I'd like to look at them, I wanted images that were large enough to really enjoy their beauty.
TUMUSS - I purchased the Long Island from Pinnacle Rarities a couple of years ago and I think I'll keep it for a while longer. It was a very difficult coin to photograph!

I liked what I've managed to do so far and from the comments it looks like others agree that the new images and gallery are a big step in the right direction. As I said in my original post this is going to be a slow process since my coins and I are usually separated by a rather large expanse of water. I hope to visit them this summer and get more imaged and into the gallery.

I'm glad you like the set. I've enjoyed seeing all the really special coins you've posted here. The entire set is linked in my sig line but the images aren't as large and some don't do the coin justice.

I went back and checked the images and was surprised to see they were all taken using the Nikon CoolPix 3200. I haven't used the Canon as much as I'd like to because the 18-55mm Zoom Lens it came with doesn't have Macro capability. I intend to buy a 100mm Macro lens later this year because I believe overall the Canon will end up taking the better pictures. The little Nikon is no slouch though! At the end of this post I'll including a picture of my 1794 Large Cent for you to compare with the other images. It was taken with the Canon.

Since I decided to go with one picture per side of each coin I had to balance getting the correct colors with depicting the luster. These are about the best I can get using that criteria. I will appreciate any tips from other board members for improving upon the luster shown while maintaining the colors.

I have to agree that it is one of the prettiest coins in my collection and one of my favorites. I sent Mike Printz of Larry Whitlow, Ltd a big "Thank You" for giving me the opportunity to own it.

now after seeing thaT 1794 large cent i must admit it is a close second to the isabella but that isabella far and away is a total one in a million coin with the combination of superb gem grade and totally originalexceptionally eye appealling coloration
Nice 1794 cent picture! I've a Canon also and have tried to use a 28-135mm zoom lens, but my pictures are nowhere near the quality of your cent. That's really a nice picture. Did you take it at 18mm or the 55mm "end" of the lens?

Great collection and nice presentation.
I'm amazed at the quality of the pictures using the Nikon 3200. I just handed down my 4300 to the wife
and upgraded to a Nikon 8700....great cameras.

New Barber Purchases
I just have to ask one thing though. When you click on each individual coin pic, the next pic remains somewhat small. Is it just the fact that I'm using a laptop to view them, or do they stay somewhat small? And if so, with such beautiful coins can you make them bigger so they are easier to see?
Otherwise, those coins are gorgeous!
