"good" coin shops in your area

Since there has been some "bad" coin shop bashing going on. I thought it might be nice to list the good coin shops in your area. It might be nice to have a list for the people that travel from state to state.

    I don't go often but I like the place, the people, and the coin selection at Golden Eagle in Laurel, MD.

    Marty, has already clearned out Chicago and the whole state of Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin and I am sure Iowa is not far behind!!!!!!

    There is only one coin shop in my area and I consider it a "good one".Skyland Coin and Jewelry.

    Several shops in my area that are near-perfect. The sell raw coins at raw coin prices, and are my friends. I think thats one of the reasons its so easy to enjoy the hobby. I was in one of the shops today, and spent at least an hour too long talking to other coin folks and looking through boxes.
    Developing theory is what we are meant to do as academic researchers

    there's one small shop in town that's nice to visit because they are nice and like to talk. They don't have a lot of stock and deal mostly in store tokens and sell mostly on Ebay.

    None near here. One antique store guy In a nearby town starting with 'L' usually has an inventory of 20-40 decent type coins in the 30-200 dollar range. He's an easy guy to deal with, likes to talk coin collecting, and his buy prices are excellent. Really, though, his place should be on a person's map more for old farm tools, vintage fruit crates, and other estate-auction type stuff. I do a lot of Xmas and birthday shopping for my sister there. image

    Rob Weiss runs a nice shop in Tucson "Old Pueblo Coins". I wish he carried more high end Morgans, so I could give him more business. Very nice atmosphere, and always a fair deal.

    The two coin shops in my area, Liberty Coin, and L&C Coins, I will not go to anymore as they do not treat me well. They sell cleaned coins without telling the buyers. They ASSUME if someone sees a coin in person, that person should be able to determine if a coin is clean or not for themselves. It was my relatives who would buy me coins, and sometimes they paid lots of money only to find out they were cleaned. I am not happy with them.

    In Hampton, Virginia there is a store called Waltons, and it is a very good coin shop.

    Guess we'd better make sure the border patrol check points at Ft Madison, IA, the Quad Cities, Alton, IL, and the greater St Louis metro area are up to date on Marty's activities then ... image

    I know of three shops in Albuquerque, and the best is "Jim Coad Rare Coins" ... decent pricing, and Jim is quite knowledgeable. About 80% of my US Type Set came from his shop, along with most of my Half Cents and Large Cents.
