    I went to one of these once - didn't buy anything because it all seemed to be
    going for way over reasonable prices. Haven't been back, since.

    I tried bidding for awile but saw everything get way overbid. Another Texas "estate" seller runs on Ebay and everything is shilled to the max.

    It's a CA unclaimed property auction run by Lone Star Auctioneers. It was a J-743 (standard silver) in a first gen PCGS PR 64 slab and J-1652 metric dollar that looked AT. I figured that, if I could get them for $3k, I'd be happy. I watched this dealer of some sort casually talking to the guy next to him while he continued to raise his hand. Either he was really dumb or he was slamming an unknowing client.

    The one thing that made it worth my time was hearing the noises the bidspotters made when they recognized bids. It sounded like a bunch of sea lions and caracaturized movie characters.

    In my experience, state auctions are shilled to the max. The items are actually presold with offers from the appraisers they use.

    That's interesting. Some of the prices yesterday were absolutely insane.
