Another PCGS Customer Service snafu...
About 3 years ago, I called PCGS customer service and informed them that they needed to update their
PCGS Authorized Dealer list. I told them that Bloomington , IL dealer Fred Vollmer had retired years ago
and his son
now operated the old coin shop as strictly a gun shop- no more coins. They said "We will look into it".
I even went to the trouble of following up with an email. Then earlier this month, May 2005, I decided to
check the authorized dealer list again, as I was going to Bloomington to hunt mushrooms and thought I
could stop by Vollmer's if it really was still in business. I used to get some awesome 1947-1958 mint sets
there with some regularity in the 1980's. Sure enuff, Vollmers is still a PCGS dealer if you can believe the
list:link to PCGS auth. dealer listing for Vollmer's.
Well, truth be told, I found that the old coin shop/ gun shop is now a dance studio!
I guess it's been at least ten years since Fred retired! Come on PCGS! Get updated!!

Funny you should bring this up...I am presently reading Phil Lesh's autobiography and just started the Acid Test chapter!
I called a dealer on their list from the San Diego area a couple of years ago and reached the dealers widow.
She was flustered because all of the coin links to her phone number were supposed to be removed over a year prior.
Since I was the first to call from the PCGS dealers list since her husband died a year ealier, the list doesn't seem to generate much interest.

I don't know what you're trying to say. I was simply curious about his culinary preferences.

Intelligent, health concious people. That's who. Mushrooms are just beginning to be recognized as powerful medicine. Anti-cancer polypeptides abound in several types of mushrooms.

And I suppose you could make a claim that cheese is good for you because it is derived from milk.
I used to like mushrooms until I woke up. Shrimp---they're yummy too, until you find out how they raise them in the farming process.----that's why they are cheaper now than 20 years ago. While you are at it, look at the back of 50% of the pre packaged foods in the supermarket and search for AUTOLYZED YEAST EXTRACT, or AUTOLYZED PROTEIN EXTRACT. That's another name for mono sodium glutamate aka ACCENT. Also known as meat tenderizer. You know how CERTAIN cultures kill a dog before they eat them, they take a couple tablespoons of accent and roll it up in a bread roll and feed it to the dog, dog goes into convulsions before it dies and when it keels over--the flesh has begun the tenderizing process. Ever get a headache when eating at certain restaurants? That headache is MSG killing your neurons.
You guys eat all the mushrooms sauteed in butter you want. Have mine too. Eat all the fungus you want. Our Social Security System needs all the help it can get.

I don't eat butter. Haven't in about 3 1/2 years. And, all that other junk you're babbling about has nothing to do with mushrooms. Bushmaster8 is right about them. They have excellent health benefits.

I love mushrooms, especially with steak 'n cheese or on pizza.
My father-in-law was raised on a farm in rural PA where they made butter. My wife told me he never ate it and didn't want it anywhere near him.
That reminds me of the old saying, "Those who respect the law and love sausage should never watch either being made."

Streeter, are you saying that you don't eat mushrooms because they contain MSG?
The tiny amount of MSG found naturally in both mushrooms and tomatoes is totally harmless. There are no valid studies that show any evidence of nerve damage from MSG.
In the case of the poisoned dog, the dog is dying from the sodium overdose. MSG = monoSODIUM glutamate. MSG is a sodium salt,
just like sodium chloride (table salt). If you feed a dog several tablespoons of salt (whether it's table salt or MSG) , it will die. A 20lb dog eating two tablespoons
of salt is equivalent to a 160 lb man eating 1 cup of salt. 1cup=16 TBSP. If you managed to eat a cup of salt you would die as well!
(Don't try this at home kids.) Hell, if you just put a teaspoon of salt in your mouth at once, you will fervently wish you had not!
MAN is this thread OT!!

I'd like to point out that just because autolyzed yeast extract and protein extract contain MSG does not mean that they are another name for MSG. Also, I highly doubt that the flesh of a dog will be tendarized by an intake of excess sodium as this will not reach the flesh in time to have any affect.
