Check out this fingerprinted IHC

I'm wondering what the grade for this one would have been without the print- an easy 65? How many points do you think a print like that should take off of a coin's grade?

Not sure if that's a fingerprint. Have seen several IHC's with "striations" on them that don't have a whorled configuration like one would expect for a fingerprint. Could be grease related or from other cause. Most fingerprints don't have that many consistently parallel lines over such a large area.

Hmmm, I very seldom see them down-grade for prints. I see 65, 66, and yes 67 Morgans with prints all over them as people
say..."Ain't she pretty?"

Give me a few more hits on the coin any day, rather than a fingerprinted mottled mess. Of course eye-appeal is subjective right?

Those dings are very minor IMO.

I bought an 1877-S Seated quarter as an XF+ that has a fingerprint on the obverse. Very original lookong coin, other than the fingerprint. Rather than "conserve" it, I just sent it in to PCGS as-is, as I needed it for my registry type set. It came back AU50!

don't think it wouldv'e gone to a 65 anyway - strike is too weak in the feathers, the hair and the beads to make a 65.

I think if cracked and resubmitted it would come back as red/brown.

Those dings and the "print" are not too distracting. I think its a very attractive IHC.

If on a larger coin, they might be imperceptible.
