How can someone have almost 3000 coin autcions on ebay?

in U.S. Coin Forum
with most going unsold, and still make any kind of profit.

I can almost tell when a coin is for auction by "ernie" by the pricing structure, before I open the auction. Sometimes I'm interested in the coin but the pics seem wash-out and I'm unsure if they represent the coins well. Anybody have any thoughts on this seller?

    I looked at some of Ernies stuff before and he always piggybacked it with something that I couldn't stand looking at.

    I always had to pass.

    I never will forget the Lincoln that he said was BU. IMHO, it was polished XF at best. He said it was a weak strike. LOL, any weaker and the die would have missed the coin. Opinions vary but not for me.

    There are more people who want "bargains" to put in their collections than posters on here.

    The heirs can deal with it. And they will.

    He overgrades and over prices everything. When I see an auction that's his I just pass by.

    Ernie's auctions are an inside joke among Barber dime collectors. I posted and sold an ANACS
    1895-O dime that was graded AG3, scratched, net FA2. I wrote in the description "looks better than
    E****'s Good '95-O, eh?" I got 3 emails from insiders who appreciated the reference.

    I sent him an online Barber dime grading site that included pictures for his edification. He wasn't amused.

    I was just thinking the exact same thing. Cleaned, overgraded, BIN 5 dollars over start price.

    In a regular no reserve I would actually bid on some, but would bail long before the start price.

    Can you filter out sellers?

    Ie Show me all bust half dimes not sold by X@%&*~.

    It's funny you put the 3000 coin auctions in your title because, until I read your first post, I thought you were making fun of MadMarty and his 3000 feedback giveaway image

    I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

    He's a "troller". We can mock his style, but with approx 20,000 completed auctions, somebody is nibbling....

    One of the ways you do it is to really load up on days when ebay offers free auction listings. The idea of putting a buy it now a couple of bucks over the listing price is to technically stay within the auction format.

    The reason that don't sell is because their overpriced. His descriptions minimize damage the coin has also...

    When I first started to cruise Ebay for coins was often drawn to his auctions. It did not take long to see what was going on. His prices always shocked me for the coin he was selling. I often wondered how he made any money and who bought from him because he had overpriced junk. I am glad I was not the only one. MM

    All my searches exclude "ernie". Makes for much more pleasant Ebay surfing!! image

    yep, ernie's stuff is always listed in the same format and it's almost always cleaned stuff that I wouldn't bother with, and there are so many things listed it's hard not to click on a few now and again.
