New camera means new pics! (more pics) Even NGC holders look good.

I just bought a great 5 MP camera, a Kodal Z740 with a big glass optical lens. Amazing the difference! I haven't mastered it yet but already got some great pics that I wanted to share. More pics later. image

I just experimented with the center exposure balance feature. I'm curious if it'll make a big impact.

Doesn't look like you need much practice to master that camera.

Those are some very nice looking pics and nice coins to boot.

Just two reveal bulbs with white balance set. The exposure level is based on the center rather than whole which helps a lot.

Nice Pics. I can't get my lighting so even across the whole coin like that. I either get a washed out coin or a coin that has shadows.

Just looking again, that really appears to be a great camera. I believe these are the best shots I've seen taken with a regular digicam (non-SLR).

The lens is about 75-85% the size of a standard SLR lens. Glass optics, too. I'm really happy with how well it does.

What's really amazing is the price of that camera. B&H has it for $339. That a lot of bang for the buck as far as coins go.

I don't have a sophisticated setup. Two desk laps, one at 12 o'clock and one at 9. I use a 6" travel tripod with the camera aimed straight down. White balance set and I experimented with some of the cool exposure balance controls. One works great with NGC slabs, the center spot exposure balance.

Is this the standard lense that comes with the camera? Or is it an optional lense that you purchased?

Standard out of the box stuff, amazingly. It does have an adapter for other lenses and filters. I may experiment with that sometime.
