Hey guys, maybe the seller is a scammer, perhaps he's a clueless adult or maybe he's just a kid.

Regardless, what's the point of making fun of him publicly? Why not do something constructive and help him get a clue instead?

    Mark,

I agree that the forum is quick to bash, but unless the mint's "Golden Dollar" campaign has
gone to new levels, then this guy is out to lunch.

Rob, he very well might be out to lunch.

But, if that's the case, perhaps some of our more informed posters could use their knowledge to help/straighten him out rather than ridiculing him and accomplishing nothing. The former doesn't really take any more time than the latter, even if it's not as much fun.

    Come on Mark...Get REAL!

I started this thread because I wanted others to join me in my laughter. image

This auction is an obvious PRANK! image

    Look at all the signs:

    (1) The opening bid is about 20 times more than it should be
    (2) The shipping charges are about 3 or 4 times what they should be
    (3) The user just signed up and posted the auction on the same day
    (4) The location is New Bern, NC (New BURN?)
    (5) It is stated in the title that it is a PCGS MS67, yet in the description section, it's Condition is listed as Circulated
    (6) Its material is listed as GOLD
    (7) The phone number is listed in the auction
    (8) The spelling and grammar are simply atrocious

But the give-away is...He can't spell CAMERA, but he can spell SACAGAWEA !!!

My intention was not to deride anyone. I just couldn't stop laughing, so I wanted to spread it around. image

Ernie, if that's the case, then I misunderstood your attitude and intent.

Of course, that was due in part, to your use of expressions such as "Give me a break" and "Where do these guys come from?" as opposed to your having indicated you thought it was actually funny.image And, it did appear to me as if others were "deriding" someone.

I've said my piece and am obviously in the minority here, so I'm done.

    Edited to add:

#1: Happens frequently on Ebay and the sellers are not intentionally joking
    #2: Same comment as above
#3: Well, he'd have to sign up before he could post the auction and wanting to sell is often the reason people do sign up.
#4: New Bern is a real town in N.C.
#5: Same comment as for #'s1 and 2
#6: A listing error by an Ebay seller - this does happen from time to time.
#7: Same comment as for #6
#8: Same comment as for #'s 1, 2 and 5. That (spelling and grammar are simply atrocious) also occurs on this forum quite often.image
