Got my Heritage World Coin Auction Catalog today, lots of yummy looking coins.

Any one see that gorgeous Swiss set from 1850?

I believe that 1850 Swiss set is from the Pittman Collection, but I can't find that auction cat. to confirm. I do remember one of the billon pieces had a nasty bit of verdigris on one side...pity, that. I do so hate verdigris.

Also, note the 1861B and the 1923 5 Franc....

I breezed through it but will spend more time today. Lots of neat coins to look at. There are also more boxed sets and boxed singles than I ever remember seeing in HWCA one auction.

I think all the good British is over at the Goldbergs Auction, and I do see some stuff there I want.....

Here's some more info on that Swiss set, kindly provided by ColonialCoinUnion who found it in the Pittman III catalogue.

Set was sold in the August 1999 Pittman sale and realized $12650.

Pittman had originally acquired it in 1956 as an original proof set from Spink for $18.20!

Meanwhile it has exceeded $10K with buyer's premium, with more than 3 days to go: link to this fantastic and very rare set
