Which coin photo do you like better (2 pairs)?

From the standpoint of aesthetics and perceived accuracy, which of each pair do you like better, A or B, and, if you would, please give a letter grade to the picture quality of the "B"'s. Explanations to follow.

I agree with Russ: The A's are "prettier" but the B's are perhaps more realistic.

I agree with the concensus. A to look at, B to judge by.

Question: What techniques were used to take the different photos -- I seem to be able to do the B versions, but can't get them to look like A.

A's were taken by a major coin retailer and were available on their website. B's were taken by me with a CoolPix 4500 and 2 Ott lamps. Images were put together with Adobe Acrobat Essentials. The 55-O $10 picture was brightened a litle bit with the software to be more realistic as it is more of a yellow-gold coin.

I agree. B's not lit up enough and A is reflected light which makes it diffucult to judge the real appearance.

I agree with "somewhere in between". I think that the "A" coins are unnaturally bright and may not represent the true "look" of the coins (at least in my personal experience). The "B" coins look a little too dark and may not represent how the coins really look. Is there any way to get a picture in between?

In A the details look better. B is a shade to dark. With almost any computer photo program you can lighten or darken either one. Try darkening A a little and brighten B a little also.
