Approaching a year since I sent my coin to a forum member for PCGS submission.

mrdqmrdq Posts: 1,186 ✭✭✭
No coin yet and no submission verification from PCGS when I check his "submission numbers" and no replies to PM's again image

COME ON BUDDY I'M KEEPING THE FAITH HERE BUT IT'S GETTING HARD

I'll even send you some stamps and an envelope, just let me know you're alive and the coin still exists.

    Tom,

I hope there weren't any $$$ coins in the lot image
He shows as "last visited April 14th, 2005" so he is still around.

No matter the hardships or reasons, if he didn't send them in, he should send them back even if COD just so you can have your coins back.
If they are sent in, maybe PCGS can at least confirm the submission number is valid and the date it arrived?

Wow...you've been more than patient. I would have started making a lot of noise months ago.

I'd say your chances are slim of ever seeing your coin again, and certainly not in a PCGS slab image

His link tells you who it is. Made me wonder if this is the guy also writes books on the side, who is from the same general area, and who might be having money problems also. Nah, never mind.

I have to agree...if he's saying back in January that he didn't get it done because of FINANCIAL problems and that he'll get it done asap and he STILL hasn't done so....long gone I think. That may have helped some of his "financial problems". Very, very sad! I would also be on his A@% like white on rice! Phone calls GALORE and whatever else it takes to get anwers and HOPEFULLY your coins!!

Tell him to send you the coin immediately or you will call his local police. You have been way too patient with this guy --- a public flogging would not be unreasonable at this point! image
  • mrdqmrdq Posts: 1,186 ✭✭✭
The coin's value is $100 tops and only if someone collects them. It's not a rare date or anything but I doubt i'll ever run into one again. If I can find the pic on my hard drive i'll post it.

$100 is $100. Moral issues at hand here as well. Wouldn't let him get away with because then he's just going to keep going and going and going! If people stop him he might eventually realize people aren't going to "just let this one slide"!

That is terrible, and I feel sorry for your loss. I do want to relay a good story about GAcoinguy, however. Almost exactly two years ago, I was involved in a blind swap where GAcoinguy was supposed to mail me $25-30 worth of coins. After not receiving his package, I contacted him. We agreed to wait a few weeks in case the postal serivice was running slow. When the package never arrived, he sent a second one. It contained a nice assortment of the kind of items usually traded in those kind of swaps. Two days later, his original package arrived, postmarked when he said he had sent it. I contacted him and he said not to worry, just to keep both packages. Seemed like an awfully nice guy to me.

If I lived in Cedartown Georgia, or even 1 state away, You would have a hired hand.......and it wouldn't cost you one dime.
That is pathetic to do to a person!.

I second the mail fraud suggestion. No telling how many times this has happened, or will continue to happen, so let's get a Federal record of his actions.

If he thinks he has financial problems now, they're nothing compared to what will happen when the Fed's come knocking at the door.

Good luck getting the Feds to do anything about a 100.00 item.

I recently handled a case of fraud over the internet for over 7,000.00 and they basically told me to call back if I got several more people hosed by the same person.

The FBI won't do anything on a single sale; otherwise they'd be spending all their time negotiating every eBay transaction. The Postal Inspector will though, as well as the sellers local police department.

I got ripped for $775 once, and the seller had 100+ victims totaling $100K+ and the local police detective couldn’t get the FBI to take an interest in the case.

It was a shame too because the detective was incompetent and by the time he got the DA to issue an arrest warrant, the seller went back to his native Brazil taking everybody’s money with him.

A year is just rediculous. I had one of the longer submissions on record and it was no where near a year.

    GaCoinGuy what's the submission number????

    Mr. DQ,

I feel your pain! At am about at my rope's end on my deal as well. Trust is soooo easy to give sometimes.....
    Yet, so easily shattered!
You want to believe that this person is going to do the right thing. (The public appology is a great start!)
Hopefully, now he will finish what he started and either get your coin back raw or get it graded on the FAST track!

    Good Luck!

that sort of reminds me of when i used to send other forum members "good" coins
just because I liked to and had the resourses to do so.
Then some idiot claimed that the only reason that I was doing it was a desperate
    attempt to buy freindship.

needless to say, i haven't done it since.

If he's emailed you you should have his IP address, and I can tell you how you can find out where he lives from that info. That way you could look up his phone number using his address and call him.

  • If he belongs to this board he obviously has some class, oops there are a few that might not! image But a year is far too long to hold that coin. Even PCGS can't detain a coin that long! He might have forgotten or has a case of alzeimers.

If the town in which he lives is not large, the local police there might be of great help to you. In a big city, they won't be bothered. Where I live, that kind of thing would get somebody at your door to ask questions. Postal inspectors can be great, too. The last person who ripped me off in such a way that the USPS inspectors needed to get involved (not coin related) did jail time. Those guys can be really good!

A phone campaign might also get you somewhere. I wouldn't let up on him, though. It's not about the hundred bucks.
