Littleton Coin Company...

I visited the websie for Littleton coin company. I clicked on something that I beleive would send me a catalog. A few days later I get catalof alright, I also get a envelope with some coins in it, lots of literature explaining tha tif I don't want to buy them I should send them back. What he heck is that? They send a 2004 1oz silver uncirculated eagle, a crappy looking 43p Jefferson, a poor looking buffalo a resonable looking roosevelt dim and I'm not sure sure if anything else. So now I have to bag this stuff up, and send it back. I didn't join any club and if it was an opt out box, when signing uop for the catlog, well that's just wrong. A lot of times I just pitch catalogs and unsolicited mail.

Anyhow, just an FYI. I will write them and let them know Iwas'nt interested in the crappy coins of the month club and send them back their coins (at my expense now envelope and stamps). I'm also going to their website to check out how I got into this mess.

goodnight.

I would double check the website, but if you, indeed, did not give them permission to send you the coins, and you did not order them, then you do not have to send them back. That is the law. image

I bit at one of their ads last year to get a few "free" BU Sacs. This was when I decided to get back into collecting, but hadn't "done my homework" yet. After a few of those monthly coins packages, I quit. They seem to have good customer service and put a lot of trust into people to mail them the stuff back, but the prices were too high. Some as much as 5 times over Redbook for common circulated silver. They also put an SAE, heavier return shipping of course, in each month for around $30. I can buy these locally for $10.

Some seem to like them, and I've heard they buy high (hence the selling high) but it just wasn't for me.

    edited to fix spelling.

  • Yep, went back and saw the addition of the coin club bit, how low is that. I just wanted their catalog, which is now burning in my fireplace in disgus of their practice. I will call today and cancel and warn others of their BS marketing approach. Looks like they sell a load of junk!

Anyhow - newbies be warned!!! Littleton, may be nice people but, very questionable marketing tactics.

I know it's my fault for not reading it through, but, I just wanted a catalog, didn't expect an outfit like them to have strings attached.

You'd be hard pressed to get an overgraded coin from Littleton.

I don't particularly care for those tactics, even if it was disclosed that they would send you items "on approval". The last time I dealt with them was when I was a teenager and I didn't notice (or I think more correctly, I didn't understand) the "on approval" language. I don't think I ever sent the coins back, because about 6 months ago I found a Littleton envelope with a buffalo nickel or two in it. Does anyone know what the statute of limitations is on something like this? I probably received the nickels about 20+ years ago.

Yawn, another Littleton Coin company thread. Do your homework people and then no one can complain. They got me started in collecting and then I got "educated" by reading a book or two. Newbies....lol.

Their coins may not be overgraded but they are certainly overpriced.
