Teletrade - Missed my chance

Just a quick story. The other day (wednesday teletrade auction. I spotted an 1892 Babrer quarter out there for $450 ( next bid $475..) I was hoping to take them up o nthere get $100 off your first teletrade on an invoice over $500. I figured like ebay I could possibly snipe the coin in the last minutes. $475 + 10% fee = 522.50 - $100 my coupon means I get an MS63 barber for $422 - not the best deal but a fair deal.
I wait then I hit my max bid 475 hit enter, and confirm and then get distracted for a moment - I turn back auctions over and there's a message that my bid had to be 2 ticks higher $500. Oh well, lesson leanred max bid has to be two ticks higher than current. Use th bid now for a 1 tick increment. That all said, there will be more of them I'm sure....
Does teletrade have these 'promos' often? Quarterly yearly? a hundred bucks savings on $500 is pretty good.

the current high bidder must have had a max at one bid higher or aniother bid came in while you were entering data
sniping is hard on teletrade - you almost need to bid 3 increments higher iin last minute
make sure your bid amount is an acceptable value
I did not see an 1892 quarter which fits your description when I checked price guide either.
By the way, I also could not find a lot worth $500 to bid on so could not use the $100 off coupon.
That $100 coupon probably doesn't cost TT anything. I bid more on something figuring if I won I would use the coupon and the net would acceptable. I got out bid by $25. The winner probably also used a coupon.
Probably more items get bid up $100 more than otherwise then there are coupons. Also these inflated prices will show up in the price history which could encourage people bid higher in the future.
I used my cupon last week to complete my 1889 gold set with the addition of a gold dollar in PCGS MS 63. That was a nice promotion.
