Does anyone here actually thank buyers for making purchases on Ebay from you?

I've bought several items off of Ebay (numimatic and non numismatic). I can't really think of an instance where the seller wrote me an email saying "thanks" for making the purchase. It would take but a minute, but I never seem to get them. I've sold a few things, and I always send a note thanking the person for the purchase, and also giving my contact details on how to reach me if they have any questions with the item and how to return it, if necessary. Just this past week I make a book purchase from a dealer (an individual dealer; not some faceless corporation), and I sent an email very clearly spelling out that I sent the payment by Paypal, if there were any problems to contact me, etc., etc., and I never heard boo back from him. A simple thank you would have been nice, but maybe I am being too soft and cuddly, and am not atuned to the hard nosed ways of the world.

For a positive transaction I always write "thank you" in the feedback and I leave feedback as soon as I get paid.

In addition, I always write thank you on the sales slip I include with coin(s).

  • I have received thank you emails after the fact

In the course of a normal sale I contact the bidder at least three times: to acknowledge the winning bid, to notify them of receipt of payment and to notify them when I've shipped.

I include my thanks in the concluding paragraph of the shipping notification.

As a buyer I'll get an occasional email from the sellers thanking me and telling me when my coin will be shipped. A lot of times in the package I'll get a business card or a handwritten thanks on the auction printout. I made a purchase directly from one of the board members (Gandyjai) because he wrote a thank you and said that he collects Ikes and if I ever need any he might be able to help me out.

  • As a seller , I always thank them, and follow up on orders to verify they are satisifed, and nudge them to leave feedback. In my recent auction, I sold easton books. One buyer's check was returned undeliverable, he mailed another, that never showed, and the 3rd finally made it. USPS messed up. So one book that didn't sell is even going as a bonus it will be anice suprise for them. 2 books for the price of one.

I will write a thank you in the email to the buyer and write thanks on the bill of sale included with the coin.

When I buy, the seller usually says thanks. Sometimes the seller has sellers regret and asks to buy the coin back from me when I want to sell image

I thank the buyer and if I notice he/she has been underbidder on other auctions I thank him for his continued support.

I usually get a copy of the invoice with a hand written "thank you"

When I sell something, I print out the auction page & write a little thank you note on it and include it in the package.

Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.

With eBay, they have automated the selling process to the point most sellers forego any email contact with their buyers. Usually, if I get a Thank You it is on a receipt included with the purchase. The only time I get an email response is if I comment something about the purchase in my feedback. The last one was when a seller described a coin as being an 1878-S VAM 1. The coin looked interesting but I knew from personal experience it was not likely a VAM 1. After receiving the coin, I found it to be a VAM 8 and left a (positive) comment about that in the feedback. The coin was nice, not expensive, otherwise as advertised and being a VAM collector, I was used to buying coins for a look-see. To me, it's just the nature of the beast, I suppose.

I send an eMail response to every PayPal payment thanking them and telling them when it will ship. For snail mail payments I send an eMail when it's received telling them it's shipped and thanking them. It's common courtesy.

  • I say thank you in the feedback and I say "Thank you for your business" when I send them an email letting them know that their package is on it's way. I also leave feedback as soon as they pay.
