Got grades on my first PCGS submission

This is the first I submitted to PCGS, I was using ANACS but just had to see how I would do here. Nothing big here just some nice grades.

That's pretty quick turnaround. I have one that's been in since 3.18.

So, how would these compare to grades at ANACS? Better or worse? Are you comfortable with these grades? Did you expect higher, or lower?
  • IMHO, and I repeat IMHO, it seems PCGS is alittle bit easier to make designations. I've probably submitted 20 Kennedy's at ANACS and only made 2 Heavy Cameo's and both of them were 1969's. Here I made 2 DC's on this submission in Kennedy's. As far as point grade they graded right were I thought they would and ANACS would have been the same. Most of the Kennedy's had dings to the shield on the reverse. Most of the time that limits them to a 67 grade from my experience. Russ may know better but that's my experience. The quarter did shock me when it went PR69, the cam designation was off, I thought it was DC. The nickels were right on what I thought.

I have one more set of submissions going in which are better. Then I'm done messing around in Russ and Marty ground. Moving to a safer neighborhood!!

I was getting curios about a couple of modern submissions, so I e-mailed PCGS about their status ... the one that hit on 03/03 has just reached 40 business days according to them and has just started the validation process. Strange as it may seem, I have already received two submissions back a couple of weeks ago that hit PCGS on the same date for the same service level.

  • I hear ya, they sure don't follow FIFO rules. I would say it depends on what graders are working and how much they are working. LOL, Russ and Marty submit so many Kennedy's they probably brought on addition Kennedy graders.
