Hmmm. I live in methuen MA, why don't I ever find stuff like that when I am digging up stumps. I remember reading once that some rich guy in town buried some money and It was never found. I seem to remember that it was coins, not notes but this could be part of it? It that were my yard I would have the entire yard dug up by now.

If I found a hoard like that I would certainly keep it a secret. I wonder how many people will come foreward and claim that they lost it.

I'll bet banks, insurance companies, and the Secret Service will be reviewing records of stolen note serial numbers. If any of them match the whole find will be confiscated.

That is really cool. I posted a message on the metal detector site here becuase I live on what used to be an old farm in CT (house was built about 10 years ago). I own a bunch of land and I always wondered if there is anything buried on it. The town that I live in is pretty historic too, and there were a lot of revolutionary soldiers that passed through and camped out in the town (or at least according to all of the signs posted around town). I don't know if there were any battles, though. I grew up in New Haven, and used to love going to the revolutionary war sites that they have, such as Ft. Nathan Hale. All the historical stuff really interests me.

Damn, I have been searching my property with a metal detector for a month and have not found crap. Lucky bast*%&!! Looks like it is time to start again over by the stone wall. BTW Many people hid there stash by stone walls and larger trees for easy identification.

Okay grab the shovel and lets go.

My guess is they will confiscate it while they take 5 years trying to determine if they should keep it and the kids will need to hire a lawyer to get it back. They really got some bad advice going public with this one. Shoulda just sold them slowly on Ebay.
