Can someone tell me more about this 1942 nickel I have.
I guess my biggest question is because it doesn't look like it is silver....it has this darker color to it that I can't seem to explain
Even the background isn't silver looking...quite pretty I think, just very different. Thank you for all that can give me an insight.

My guess would be that the copper in the coin is starting to green which is causing the coin to look strange.
56% Copper
35% Silver
9% Manganese
So, it's a much different alloy than the 90% silver and 10% copper that we are used to calling "silver".
Most of the circulated coins get the darker look that yours is showing.
