Just cracked out the highest graded coin I've ever put in my Dansco

Broke an MS66 buffalo out of its PCGS home to put it in my type album. Now all my nickels holes are full, and full of Cracked out, Uncirculated specimens. (except the shield nickels)

Aren't you proud?

Your pics arent working baley, but i've seen your album pics several times. I even have them saved on my hard drive in a folder called "what I want my type set to look like". Unfortunately, the only time I have decent pics of my coins are when I get them from the seller.

The 1883 No cents is a PCGS MS64 crackout.
For the "with cents" I also used an 1883 that was also an MS64 crackout.
Ditto with the 1913 type 1, PCGS MS64 crackout
Type 2 is just a 1938 D MS 66 crackout (can really really see the luster)
The "to date" Jeff is actually not a TPG crackout, i just broke it out of aproof set from my birthyear (1980)
The war nickel is a 1944 S that was now come to think of it, ALso a PCGS MS66 crackout - so i guess the buff wasnt the highest graded coin ive ever busted out, it was a tie!

Still need the shield nickels. Part that kinda sucks is they almost have to be nice MS examples now or they'll look silly next the others. (but maybe not, since the half dimes above them are three VF's and one EF, and the dimes next to the shiny war nickel are both VF's.
  • All I can say is good for you.......the beauty of the collection is obviously more important that the slab. here here

Baley, why are you using a proof as an example of a Jeff? I would, if I were you pick up a very nice MS66 1938 or 1971-73 for a type set.

Nothin wrong with using a proof in a dansco. They spice it up a bit.

Actually, that proof does look out of place, doesn't it?
Although I do have a very nice 1942-P type 2 proof for the war nickel spot that I haven't cracked out yet..

PutTogether, sounds like you have a teriffic looking set image maybe you can go Ch. AU on the Shields?

I dont really care what I do on the shields. In fact, I wasnt trying to make the rest of my nickels MS either, it just worked out that way. The ones that looked good just happened to be slabbed UNCS from PCGS. If i find shield nickels I like and they are MS - fine.........if they are a super nice AU........thats fine too.

And Baley, don't worry. It'll take me 30 grand and ten years before you have anything to worry about competition wise. image
